Cancellation and Refund Policy

Governor’s Cup staff looks forward to welcoming runners to Helena for the 49th edition of the Governor’s Cup. While we know runners sign up with the expectation of starting their summer with our race, we also understand that life (and injuries happen), and you may not be able to compete. Below is our current cancellation and refund policy. If you have any questions please contact race director Bryan Haines.

Governor’s Cup Refund Policy

The Governor’s Cup does not offer refunds to runners. We understand life happens (change of plans, training injuries, a long-lost relative’s wedding) that may cause you to miss the fun of Gov Cup weekend. With that in mind, runners have the following options if they are not able to join us in Helena:

  • Participants can defer their race registration to 2024 for a $10 fee; or
  • Transfer their registration to a family member or friend; or
  • Donate their race fees to the Caring Foundation of Montana.

Governor’s Cup Cancellation Policy

If the Governor’s Cup is not able to host an in-person event, we will move registered runners to a virtual race and not cancel the event. In the event that the race is moved to a virtual setting and a runner doesn’t want to participate in a virtual event, registered runners will have the following options:

  • Participants can defer their race registration to 2024 for a $10 fee; or
  • Transfer their registration to a family member or friend; or
  • Donate their race fees to the Caring Foundation of Montana.

*Race deferrals must be made by May 31, 2023.

Changes between race distances and transfer of entries to another runner will be allowed. To defer your race registration, change your event or transfer your entries, please do so through your RunSignUp race profile.

COVID-19 Considerations

Governor’s Cup staff will continue monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes working with local public health officials and our own medical experts. The Governor’s Cup expects to be able to once again hold the event in 2023. Please contact race director Bryan Haines with any questions.
